ACE Aotearoa PD Workshops for Schools

ACE Aotearoa is offering professional development (PD) workshops for schools who have received allocations of funding for ACE in 2010. The workshops will focus on how to better:

  • engage learners who have not traditionally engaged in ACE in the past, especially Maori and Pacific learners

  • embed literacy and numeracy in ACE programmes.

The workshops are funded within the larger PD programme that ACE Aotearoa is co-ordinating on behalf of the whole ACE sector. For more information contact terry@aceaotearoa.org.nz

National ACE Networks Strategy

On 29th October, 26 representatives of ACE Networks met to put together a national strategy for facilitating sector-led ACE Networks. The strategy is the end result of work done at regional hui held around the country. It is a living strategy that will be further developed and refined over time and is informed and led by the sector.

It has as the main principle that each regional network will develop a pathway that best meets its needs and those of its communities. This may include having more localised networks within the larger regional network, decisions about resource distribution and how the Tiriti O Waitangi based approach is enacted.

The ACE Networks national strategy was in response to the Marion Bowl paper about the importance of networks and concerns from networks themselves that they were not sure how a network could be most effective. The Network strategy is NOT prescriptive about what networks can and should do, but rather a system collaborating and sharing... information, ideas, Professional Development, needs, successes, problems etc.

The facilitation role taken up by ACE Aotearoa will be informed by the networks. The ACE Aotearoa Executive are presently considering the draft strategy and the implementation plan and this will be released to all involved in early December. ACE Aotearoa is looking forward to collaborating with ACE networks to ensure their sustainability into the future.
